Shropshire man handed court order

A man has been handed a three-year Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO) for anti-social behaviour in Shrewsbury town centre.

Shaun Freeman, of Abbey Foregate in Shrewsbury, was given the order at Telford Magistrates Court on Thursday (24 September).

The 57-year-old pleaded guilty to theft, before he was given the CBO, which means he must not:

- Enter Shrewsbury town centre except when transiting through the town on public transport

- Enter Home Bargains on Abbey Foregate

- Asda on Old Potts Way

- Co-Op on Sutton Road

- Consume alcohol in a public place or be in possession of alcohol in an open vessel in any public place.

If Freeman breaches the conditions of the his CBO it could result in a custodial sentence. The order will be in place until September 2029.

PCSO Joseph Bradley said: "CBOs are put in place to protect the public from persistent anti-social and threatening behaviour, and we will take robust action against anyone who chooses to ignore them in the town centre.

"We will continue to take action against those who breach these orders and commit offences that impact residents, businesses and visitors in Shrewsbury town centre."
